Assemble together 2tbsp butter, 3tbsp minced shallots, 1/4C shitake mushrooms (stalks removed and cleaned), 3/4C. Dry red wine, 5 fl.oz beef consommé, 2 filet mignon steaks,1/2 tsp soy sauce, 1tsp cornstarch, 1tsp dried thyme and pepper.

In a non-stick frying pan sauté shallots and mushrooms for about 4 minutes in 1tbsp of butter. ½ cup of red wine and 3fl.oz of beef consommé should be added to this and simmered fro 5minutes with frequent stirring. After removing the mushrooms from the sauce boil the mix on high till reduced to ¼ cup. Add the mushrooms again to this sauce. Next, combine soy sauce with cornstarch and let it be.

Sprinkle the pepper on the filets and sauté them over medium heat in 1tbsp of butter till done. Take them out of the pan and in the same pan add the remaining red wine and beef consommé, scraping the pan for the bits of filet to blend in with the sauce and boil it for 1 minute. To this add both the mushroom and soy sauce and thyme and boil fro another 1 minute. Arrange the steaks on a plate pour the sauce over it and garnish with fresh thyme. Serve this accompanied by baked potatoes.

And now the grand finale! Ravish him with a flaming banana dessert redolent with the fragrance of cinnamon. Combine butter, brown sugar and cinnamon over low-heat till sugar melts. Then sauté the cut bananas in it till it turns slightly brownish. Pour rum over it and just heat through quickly for not more than 1 minute. Ignite the rum, take it to the table and once the flames have subsided, serve the banana pieces with 1-2 scoops of ice-cream and watch your man melt!

Throw in a good bottle of wine, set the table with candles and flowers and enjoy the romance.

Another legend says that Valentine was a priest during 3 BC. Emperor Claudius decreed that no young man was to marry as he thought marital status affected the performance of soldiers. Valentine defied the ban and continued to secretly perform the marriage of young lovers and for this he was beheaded.

Another version recounts that while in jail Valentine developed a relationship of love and affection with the jailor’s daughter and just before the beheading he sent her a letter ending with the words ‘your Valentine.’ These words continue to guide the pen even today.
